In the heart of Stelvio National Park, in a breathtaking high alpine landscape, the Berghotel Franzenshöhe invites you to rest at 2188m. Secluded from the flow of tourists, halfway up the Queen of Alpine roads, the Stelvio Pass road, it is the ideal base for leisurely hikes as for demanding mountain and glacier tours.
The farmers of Glurns, the smallest town in South Tyrol, have had alpine rights to the surrounding meadows for centuries. The Franzenshöhe is therefore also the location of a cattle pasture that is still used today. From July to early September, visitors are accompanied by the rhythmic ringing of cow bells.
In the immediate vicinity is the Madatsch glacier, which can be reached in 30 minutes on foot. From there, you have a glorious view of the Trafoier Eiswand and the Thurwieser.
